Wasatch County Parks and Recreation teamed up with Junior Jazz participants to introduce a premiere local athlete to our young basketball players with the hope to inspire, as well as assist in fundraising to support his journey to the Zonal Qualifier.

Gavin Peterson was born with Spina Bifida and has undergone much adversity in his 17 years. Gavin is now one of 12 in the entire United States, and just one of three high schoolers, that has qualified for the National Team.

2025 U.S.A. Men's Under 23 Team

National Wheelchair Basketball Association

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. - The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and the Men’s Under 23 Selection Committee have announced the final roster for the U.S.A. Men’s Under 23 Wheelchair Basketball Team. This roster was finalized at the conclusion of the 2025 Men’s U23 Selection Camp hosted January 16-18 at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.

The final roster will represent USA at the IWBF Americas Men's U23 Championship (Zonal Qualifier), scheduled for April 2-6, 2025 in Bogota, Colombia, with the goal of securing a team spot for the 2025 IWBF Men's U23 World Championship to be hosted June 12-21, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The IWBF Men’s U23 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship is an international competition showcasing the best young male wheelchair basketball players from around the world.

Gavin Peterson (Heber City, UT) is a high school student currently playing with the Utah Rush in the NWBA Junior Varsity Division.
